Questions about Consigning

Q: Sorry, but I don't get it. How does this all work?

A: First, you register with us as a consignor. Then you prepare, price, and tag your items as described. You drop off your items one day before the sale starts, and we take it from there. Two weeks later you will receive a check in the mail with your cut of the sales amount.

Q: Do I have to stay with my items the whole time?

A: No. We will arrange the items on the sales floor, sell them for you, reconcile the sales, and send you a check. However, the sale relies heavily on volunteer helpers. Please consider to volunteer if you can. Check the "Volunteers" link for more details

Q: What happens to the items that don't sell?

A: Items that have not been picked up by the designated time will become sole property of "From Yours To Mine", LLC. If possible, we will donate all unsold items to a charity of our choice. If you don't want your items to be donated you must mark your sales tag accordingly and pick them up on the last day of the sale.

Q: I don't want to donate my items. When can I pick them up?

A: You must pick up your items on the Sunday after the sale between 2:00pm and 6:00pm. Any items that are not picked up by 6:00pm will become sole property of "From Yours To Mine", LLC. Most items will be donated to a charity of our choice. Sorry, there are no exceptions as we do not have any facilities to store the items.

Q: I am not sure how to price my items.

A: A good rule of thumb is between 25% and 50% of the retail price. Take a good look at the item and ask yourself: "Would I buy this?" and "How much would I pay for it?"
Another good place to research prices are ebay and local consignment stores.

Q: Do I get my clothes hangers back?

A: The items will be sold with the clothes hangers. You can buy very inexpensive hangers at Walmart, Ikea, or Target. Wire hangers and store hangers (Old Navy, Target) are ok. But the hangers must be size appropriate for the clothes. No kids clothes on adult hangers, please.

Q: I participate in other local consignment sales. Can I use my tags from that sale?

A: We have partnered with Munchkin Markets, LLC. You have now the option to participate in three sales but only have to enter and tag once. Special rules and restrictions do apply, so please contact us for detailed instructions.

Q: I am a returning consignor and there are all these items in my inventory from the last sale. Do I have to remove all those?

A: No. You can leave all entered items in your inventory, however, you will have to move the items you intend to sell at the upcoming sale from the inactive inventory to the active inventory.
The only time we ask you to remove items is, if you don't plan on selling them anymore at all, for example because you gave them away or sold them through a different venue, and of course to remove all your donated items.

Q: It says there is a sign up fee. Do I have to send that in in order to sign up?

A: No, there is no money due up front. The fee will be deducted from your check.

Q: When can I expect my money?

A: You will receive your check in the mail within two weeks after the sale closes, along with a reconciliation sheet.

Common issues when printing tags

There are a few very common issues that come up regarding printing your tags. If you have trouble printing your tags, check here to see if we have a solution for you:

1. You hit the "print tags" buttons, but nothing happens!

The most common cause for this is that a popup blocker is turned on. In certain instances, MSM will use a popup to display the tags to print. The reason for this is so that when you are done printing, you can simply close the window and are right back on the print tags screen, in case you want to print another set.

A simple way to stop the popup blocker is to hold down the CTRL key when you click on the print button. This will disable the popup blocker for that particular link. You will need to do this each time you click. If you want a more permanent solution, read below...

Following are some instruction documents for turning off popup blockers.

Working with the IE popup blocker:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_popupblocker.mspx

Working with other common popup blockers:

https://host.softworks.ca/Agate3/blocker/disable-blockers.htm

One thing that is important to note, and often overlooked is that it is not uncommon for a computer to be running more than one popup blocker. Almost any IE toolbar that is installed (google, yahoo, aol, etc.) has their own popup blocker. If you disable the IE popup blocker, then the toolbar popup blocker just takes over. So you will need to modify or disable ALL the popup blockers that may be installed.

2. You hit the "print tags" buttons and the wrong tags, the ones you already printed, show up, but not the ones you want!

This is usually an issue with cached files in the user's browser. You should delete your temporary internet files and this should resolve the issue. Specific instructions for how to do this are (in Internet Explorer):

1. Choose TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS in Internet Explorer

2. Click the DELETE FILES button. Click "Delete All Offline content" checkbox and click OK.

3. You print your tags, but the description line is "garbage" and just scrambled letters!

There appears to be an issue with the new Firefox 3 browser that has just been released. The problem you will encounter is on the actual printing of your tags. When displayed on the screen, they look correct, but when printed, the descriptions are "gibberish". This affects you only if you use Firefox3, not any other web browser. One way to get around the issue is to follow these steps before printing new tags:

In your Firefox window go to "Tools" and click "Options". A window will pop up. Go to the "Content" tab (top row). Under "Fonts and Colors" click "Advanced". Another window pops up. Un-check the box for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selection above." This should take care of the Firefox3 printing issue.

Questions about Volunteering

Q: I have nothing to consign, but I would love to volunteer and shop early.

A: Great! Just go to the volunteer page and click the Sign-up button.

Q: I have signed up for two volunteer shifts but then didn't make it to my second shift. How much of my sales will I receive?

A: Because you worked at least one of your shifts, you will still receive 70% of your total sales. If you didn't show up for any of your shifts, your sales will be lowered to 50%.

Q: I am working one volunteer shift and I handed out 200 postcards. Do I qualify for 80% of my sales?

A: Bartering is not considered volunteering. Only consignors that work two shift at the sale do qualify for the higher percentage.

Questions about Shopping

Q: I  noticed the other sales listed on your home page. Do you own and operate those, too?

A: That would be nice, but No, those sales are owned and operated by different individuals. From Yours To Mine, LLC is not affiliated in any way with those sales at this point. They are just other great sales worth knowing about.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?

A: No, not at this time. We do accept cash and local checks.

Q: Can I bring my child/children?

A: Yes, you can. But please be aware that there is no childcare available and it is your responsibility to watch your children. The sale can get very busy, so we generally recommend that you leave your children with a trusted adult and enjoy some shopping alone time.
